So I booked a unit back in 2019 with Total Storage, my unit cost was $133 a month for an interior climate controlled unit. Plus the insurance that they require you to keep. In October of 2022 they were purchased by Go Store It and the rate increased to $173 a month with a $15 required insurance. Well we needed even more storage space so we rented an outdoor unit as well, and that unit was costing around $209 a month. Flash forward to present day and I could not afford to keep two units as the rates continued to increase, so we moved out of the interior unit and combined all of it in the exterior unit, vacating the interior. Then I got my new bill and thought that a mistake had been made because apparently I was charged more for the outdoor unit then the indoor one. Well I called and first was met with two call center personas that assured me they have no idea which one is indoor and which one is outdoor... I then looked online and I am paying $209 a month plus the insurance for a 10x15 unit. While online it states that this unit is only $109 a month. I called the office and kindly asked for the online price and they stated that if I wanted that price, I would have to move out of the outdoor unit that I was in now, and into another outdoor unit of the SAME EXACT SIZE... to get that price, but her exact words were, rates go up... So here is my word to the wise, there are so many other storage places in our area... These people clearly get you into their facility and then jack the pricing of the units up, basically preying on those that dont have the ability to move their stuff at the drop of a dime. I am currently looking for another storage facility. That seems petty and criminal to treat clients that way after they have been using that storage facility for well over 4 years. The woman that I talked too on the phone seemed fed up with something and was really in a bad mood from the beginning of the conversation.

It was easy to reserve. The only problem was that the office closes at 4 on weekdays. But besides that it was a great experience

Do I need to rent a climate controlled unit?

If you have delicate items such as musical instruments, computers, pictures, or antique wood furniture, it is recommended to select a climate-controlled unit. Climate-controlled storage units protect against rust, corrosion, mold, cracking, and warping.

What’s the difference between an indoor and an outdoor unit?
An outdoor storage unit has direct access and is usually drive-up accessible. An indoor unit is located within a building.

What items can't be put in a storage unit?

Most storage facilities will not let you store firearms, perishable items, liquids, illegal drugs, flammable and hazardous materials, live animals, or plants.

Are my items insured while being in a storage unit?

You are responsible for the items you store. The storage facility's insurance protects the location that houses the storage units, not the contents of individual units. If your homeowner's insurance doesn't cover your items, the facility manager can usually help you sign up with an insurance provider.

Can I use my renters insurance for a storage unit?

Anything your renter's insurance policy covers under usual conditions will be covered in your storage unit. Usually, renter's insurance will cover items in a unit up to 10% of your policy limits, but it does not include natural disasters. However, there may be exceptions to this, so check with your insurance company to see if you're covered.

What do I need to bring with me when to rent a unit?

You will need a government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or passport) to complete your storage unit rental agreement.

Can I access my unit anytime I want?

Most storage locations are open 365 days a year, but access hours may vary. During access hours, usually between 6 am and 10 pm seven days a week, you can access your unit using your individual gate code. During office hours, company employees are available to answer questions and provide on-site support.

How long can I rent a unit?

Most rental contracts are month-to-month agreements billed in one-month increments. No long-term lease is required unless the customer requests it.
