I have a storage unit in with Store it all here in Barre. Just got it at the end of April. I ONLY gave them a full star because that woman who I got the unit from was polite and had at least a little compassion and tried to help me on Saturday morning - before the breakdown in communication happened as you will see below. I broke my phone moving.. So I tried to go in person and pay on 2 different days last week to pay. The car was out front of the office so I knew they were there. But, No one answered. Then on Friday (the first), the unit is locked. I wrote a note and put it in the door saying "I was here, check your cameras - I knocked and rang the doorbell when the suv was outside the office -with my wallet out, trying to pay (the suv being out front is important because when I got the unit I waited for the woman to arrive at the office and she was driving that suv, so I knew someone was there) So how do I pay? I need to get in the storage unit asap and I dont have a phone." I got an email Sat morning at 8am saying it is unlocked and she isnt there alot due to covid. That was it. I replied thanking them, apologizing for the tone in the note I left them and AGAIN asking how I should pay and if there was a time I could meet someone there. OR if I should email them my card info. No reply. Instead I go there after getting the email, and my unit is locked still. I write again Saturday and again Sunday. No reply and its still locked. I get an email back Monday morning saying it was locked at noon Saturday (after receiving and email at 8am Sat. saying it was unlocked??) and (here's the kicker) I could go online to pay. Are you kidding me? I know its not their fault I broke my phone, BUT- if they would have just told me that I could pay online Friday or Saturday I wouldn't be here writing this. But seriously? I could have gone online and paid all along? Why did no one tell me that sooner? Really poor communication and serious lack of care for their customers!

The cheapest storage unit in your local area does not always mean it is the best option for you. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Northfield, Vermont.

  • Storage unit's rates are based on a few features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.
  • For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.
  • For commercial and business storage, many facilities offer larger unit sizes like 10x20 or 10x30, which are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.
  • Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis.
  • Whether a facility offers climate controlled units or only a drive up unit. That will also determine the monthly rent. Usually, storage units which are climate controlled are more expensive than drive up units or storage containers.
  • Most locations have digital keypad access, and they provide you with your own personal access code to the storage facility. Check with the office for availability.
  • Consider drive-up storage units for convenient loading and unloading, especially when storing heavy or bulky items.
  • Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Reach out to the property manager to confirm availability.
  • Check for online reviews and recommendations.
  • Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location.

Are there free storage deals in Northfield, Vermont?

For new customers, many storage facilities run promotions like the first month is free. Search by your zip code or distance to locate storage units that come with the first month free and other decent storage discounts. Take advantage of storage unit specials if you're a first-time renter.

How do I find the cheapest storage in Northfield?

You can sort by price, from low to high, to find affordable options on our website. Away from the center of the city, you have a better chance of finding inexpensive storage solutions. The size and amenities that the facility offers also affect the monthly price.

What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?

You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.

What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?

The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty during these times to help you with your storage questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, check for the property's phone number to reach the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.

Storage facilities near Northfield Village usually charge higher rates because they are close to central locations and popular areas like Depot Square. These facilities are convenient for residents who value easy access and short travel times. For more affordable options, consider units on the outskirts near Berlin or Middlesex, which often have lower rates while still offering essential amenities.

Demand for storage increases during university move-in and move-out periods, especially for Norwich University students and faculty. This is the oldest private military college in the U.S. Booking early during these times is important, as higher demand can lead to limited availability and increased prices. Look for student discounts or seasonal promotions offered by some facilities during peak periods to save money.

For long-term storage, facilities farther from Northfield’s town center, like those near Berlin, often have lower rates and are close to major routes like Interstate 89. These locations are great for people who don’t need frequent access to their items and prefer saving money over convenience.
