- I filled everything out online which was cool and when I went to verify my identity at the storage it was clean, quiet and a very easy process. - When I moved in the elevator was not working so it was very disappointing trying to carry all of my belongings up the stairs there was one on the lower level but that was $10 more I felt that since the elevator was not working why couldn't I get that one at the same price for the convenience and good customer service so I was disappointed with that.

My only complaint is the lengthy questions and signature/initialing required. 20 plus minutes from the time I committed to the unit to the time I walked out the door. CORPORATE LISTEN UP! I'm not buying a house. The paper work is too much. Amy is great- you need a system that doesn't freeze up and is timely. So they hold your stuff hostage for extra $100 on top of your late fees and regular rental amount that you weren't able to pay the first time. Find someplace else to go.. ll

The unit I rented is supposed to be clean, without pests, climate controlled, yet part of one wall of the unit, near the floor, is significantly open to the outside, allowing access of weather and critters. - Lisa - property manager - was great. Very personable, concerned, eager to help and very professional and courteous. Sabeth (?) -- customer service representative at your customer call center was also very helpful, courteous, patient and professional. What prevented me from rating 5 stars is your online support system ... which evidently is STILL not working because I can't log into my account, which Lisa swears is completed and set-up, but Sabeth can not seem to find ... nor can I log into it. Evidently there is an account but no one has access to it. My e-mail address keeps triggering an error message that it is "unacceptable." Supposedly an "IT Ticket" has been triggered to investigate this glitch, and I am supposed to receive an e-mail that says everything is "fixed." But to this date, I have heard nothing. Lisa mentioned that she had received a couple other complaints from customers about this same issue.

- After renting here for months at a time--on two different occasions--I had to leave feedback so that others would be able to make a well informed decision for their own renting needs. Let me start by saying that I have always been apprehensive about the idea of leaving my precious belongings at a separate location from my home. It doesn't seem logical to me because of possible theft, vandalism, or any other type of natural calamity. But I took a chance because I desperately needed the room in my house. Well I'm glad I did! Because 1-800-Self-Storage in Melvindale helped change my thinking on this and put my mind at rest. The safety and security measures they have in place offer the peace of mind I was looking for in a facility. Multiple levels of security reassure the customer that their valuables are safe. And their employees are a large part of that experience. They are very helpful and courteous too. The manager, Amber, was especially helpful as she walked me through the process and handled my every concern with patience and respect. I was pleasantly surprised.
