- I had a great time visiting this Extra Space Storage for the first time. The staff were hilarious and very welcoming. I felt like a part of the family almost immediately. The storage unit itself was clean and the door worked smoothly and closed properly. I also like the app. It’s really convenient to be able to get the gate code or pay my bill that way, rather than having to go in or sign in every time I go to their website. The two things I don’t really care for are as follows; I’m not a fan of the gate locking us in at 10:00pm (at least that’s what we were told), it makes for a very stressful time trying to get unloaded when you feel like an axe is hanging over your head. Next is the cost of the insurance on the unit. My unit costs about $45.00/month, but the insurance is around $35.00/month. It’s nearly the same price as the entire unit! Too pricey for sure.

- While the location is less than perfect overall if, like me, you are without a car, the pricing cannot be beat! I was renting a smaller unit at a (slightly) more convenient place, but was paying almost twice as much! The savings alone makes up for the time to get there by bus. Otherwise, the customer service was wonderful - Both Melissa and Jordan made me feel welcome and valued as a customer . . . Which is an all-important factor to me.

- I had a housemate go crazy I literally had to move in 1 hour Nicholas at the call center found my a facility close by and affordable. Megan the property manager was so KIND and helpful. that I was able to calm down, breathe and no my things were going to be safe. She never treated me like because my stay was going to be for a short time that I was not important but rather made me feel valued as a customer. I really appreciate all Nicholas at the call center and Megan at the facility did for me and can honestly say should I need storage again I will use Public Storage and specifically property 23086 in Berkeley CA because of them.

However, just a few days after I've started renting a car space, somebody scratched and dented a side of my van on several places and bent the side mirror again even after I straightened it. I am aware you are not liable for any damages. But perhaps you can install more security cameras and make them clearly visible, so people do not vandalize others property. One significant hiccup was that the initial online quote I received for my reservation increased by $5 dollars on the day I went into the facility to secure the unit. This led me to pause the process for a bit as I decided whether to continue. Ultimately I chose to overlook this issue and continue with my reservation as the cleanliness and security of the building took precedence.

- I left a 5X10 storage due to an increase two months after my unit was broken into. Precious priceless valuables were stolen and then to increase my fee was tacky, so I left. Cubesmart offered a 10X15 for nearly half of what I was about to pay so I jumped on it. Booking online was easy. The email and text communications were clear and I actually moved in 3 days earlier. When I noticed no one at the storage facility, I called the number posted, someone answered immediately and directed me to the office. I was shown the unit and move in was wast the same day. I highly recommend this location.

- I am a single woman in my early 20’s renting a unit at this facility. My unit is indoors on the second floor of a long, mostly unlit hallway. I often drop off my items alone and expected a certain level of security which was not present. Upon arriving to my unit this past Monday evening, there were no cars in the facility but mine. I loaded my things into the lift to transfer to my unit and my biggest fear came to life. There was a tall, middle aged white man lurking in the long hallway as I entered the second floor of the building. He immediately began to slowly approach me, asking me if I wanted to see the jewelry and accessories he had in his unit. When I said no thank you, he continued to approach. I ran of out the building, leaving all of my things in the lift. I waited in my car for another customer to drive up and was lucky enough to encounter a kind man who escorted me to my unit to protect me from the man in the hallway. He continued to try to offer me things and approach even with the escort. It became obvious as we walked past his unit that he was living there or using it as a partial living space. I was able to finish my load but am dreading having to return. Extra space has NO 24 hour security, NO security phone number to call after hours, and obviously NO regulations over what someone can use the space for. There should not be a man living in a unit in the building, especially not one who is a threat to the safety and security of customers, especially other young women like myself. INCREDIBLY disappointed with this facility.

- I needed to move out of a storage facility where I had been a tenant for 40 years because the property had been sold and an office building will be constructed there. While that facility had been quite adequate for my purposes, it clearly could not compare to the Richmond Security Public Storage facility. Everything at the latter is far better and first-rate: location, construction, management, security, maintenance, etc. Although I did not want to make this move, I could not be happier to have done so.
