- Facility is a basic storage. Very little security though, beyond one person at the front and locked up at night. It's not 24/7 access, which can be good and bad.
Front staff (James) was REALLY nice and helpful.
Quality of the units are pretty bad, wood floors everywhere and really outdated utilities to move.

Finding and renting self-storage facilities in Malibu, California is now easier through MoversCorp. Compare options and rent storage near you with just a few clicks. We provide the convenience of reserving affordable storage units online or by phone. No credit card or long-term contract is required. Consider us as your solution for finding and reserving storage facilities throughout California, including options for mini storage units and storage containers to suit a variety of needs. The cheapest storage unit in your area may not always be the best choice. Please consider the following factors when selecting a storage unit in Malibu, California.
- Monthly rates are based on features such as 24/7 access, climate control, facility security, location, and overall demand in your area.
- For household goods, the most common storage unit sizes are 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, and 10X15. For added flexibility, some companies also offer portable mini storage units for rent for temporary residential use that can be delivered to your property or hauled by you for on-site storage.
- Many facilities offer larger unit sizes for commercial and business storage, like 10x20 or 10x30. These sizes are ideal for storing office equipment, inventory, or business records. These sizes can also accommodate vehicles, making them a great option for car storage.
- Most storage facilities require insurance for stored items. If you don’t have your own policy, you may need to buy one through the facility, adding about $15 to $50 to your storage rental cost each month. Some places also charge a refundable deposit or an administrative fee when you move in. Always ask about these costs and refund conditions before signing a lease.
- Storage facilities with flexible leases allow you to rent on a month-to-month basis. Be aware that storage unit price increases are common. Many customers say their rates go up after a few months, sometimes more than once a year. Since storage rentals are month-to-month, facilities can raise prices with proper notice. Ask about potential rate increases before committing to a unit.
- The monthly rent will also depend on whether a facility offers climate-controlled units or only drive-up units. Climate-controlled units cost more than drive-up units or storage containers.
- Most locations have digital keypad access, which provides you with your personal access code. Check with the office for availability.
- Consider drive-up access for easier loading and unloading, especially for heavy or bulky items.
- Some facilities may provide extra room or rental space for public use, such as areas for organizing or handling your stored items. Contact the property manager to confirm availability.
- Check for online reviews and recommendations.
- Ask the office about the preventive security measures for safeguarding the location.
Are there free storage deals in Malibu, California?
Many companies offer promotions for new customers, such as a free first month. Search by your zip code or distance to locate cheap storage units that come with the first month free and other decent storage discounts. Take advantage of specials if you're a first-time renter.
How do I find the cheapest storage in Malibu?
You can sort by price, from low to high, to find affordable options on our website. Away from the city center, you have a better chance of finding inexpensive storage rental solutions. The facility's size and amenities affect the monthly price.
What is the difference between an indoor and outdoor unit?
You have easy access to your unit when it is an outdoor unit. If the unit is indoors, you must first enter the building to get to it.
What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?
The property's operating hours are during office hours. The store manager will be on duty to help you with your questions. If you have questions or need help outside these hours, look up the property's phone number to contact the leasing office directly. The gate hours determine when you can enter the property and use your unit.
Malibu’s unique layout and reliance on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) make location a key factor when choosing a storage facility. Popular areas like Malibu Colony and Point Dume tend to have higher rates because of their convenience and easy access. While pricier, these locations can save time for residents and businesses needing frequent access.
Traffic on the PCH can be unpredictable, especially during weekends, holidays, or summer. Storage facilities with extended or 24/7 access can be a big help, letting you plan visits during less busy times. For instance, if you are traveling from downtown Malibu to areas like Carbon Beach or Zuma Beach, flexible hours can help you avoid peak traffic.
If you are on a budget, looking beyond Malibu’s center can lead to big savings. Facilities near Trancas Canyon, Malibu Knolls, or the outskirts of Decker Canyon often offer lower rates and are still easy to reach via secondary roads.
For Pepperdine University students, summer often means finding storage for dorm items, textbooks, or small furniture. Local residents may need space for seasonal gear like surfboards or hiking equipment for trails such as Solstice Canyon or Corral Canyon Park. Storage units with flexible sizes, ranging from small lockers to large garage-style spaces, can help you avoid paying for more space than you need.
