Laugh Your Way Through Moving Day: Dos and Don'ts

first time moving dos and don'ts

Moving for the first time can be a rollercoaster of emotions—excitement, anxiety, and even a bit of chaos. But who says it can't be a comedy show, too? Welcome to the ultimate guide that turns the daunting task of moving into a laugh-out-loud adventure. We're diving deep into the dos and don'ts, but with a twist. Forget the conventional wisdom and prepare for epic fails, unexpected wins, and hilarious moments that you'll remember for a lifetime.

1. Don't Do It

Just as a fair warning: moving sucks. We mean really, really, REALLY sucks. If at all possible, this task should be avoided at all costs. Turn back before it is too late.

2. Don't Ask Anyone for Help

As if they know anything. Pfft. We're sure with your infinite amount of experience with moving, you have this completely under control. Oh yeah, it is your first time moving, so you have NO experience. HAHA Can we watch?

3. Don't Plan

Plan for what exactly? How you're going to tape up the boxes? What could there possibly be to plan with this whole moving business? You don't even have a place to move yet, so why would you need to start planning now.

4. Don't Leave a THING Behind

School papers, books, pictures, nick knacks, sports trophies- how could you leave any of these sentimental items behind? It isn't as if once people start moving that they move over and over again.

5. Don't Organize

Throw everything in the back of your car. Fate will sort it out. By fate we mean you walking by the piles of junk still in your living room months after you've moved in since you're too afraid to face the mess you made.

6. Do it Yourself

Your independent, strong, young- this moving thing can't be as bad as us old people out to make it. Don't bother with movers, friends, family or anyone; because you're going to show the world how this whole moving thing is done.

7. Do Everything at the Last Minute

Your powers of procrastinations were earned from many nights avoiding science fair projects, book reports, homework and chores. Everything you've ever put off until tomorrow has prepared you for this moment right now... or later. Don't disappoint us.

8. Do Rob a Bank

Moving is expensive. Between boxes, packing tape, gas, taking time off work it adds up real quick, so go ahead and rob a bank to straighten out your pitiful financial situation. Seems like fair play since banks don't seem at all to rob all of us!

9. Do Pray

Dear Jeebus, If you help me get through this move I'll be good forever and ever. Amen. *cough* NOT *cough*

10. Burn All Your Belongings

Once you've physical packed, moved and unpacked all of your stuff, you'll really begin to notice exactly how much stuff you own. We're telling you with the impulse to burn all your belongings right now, because in a few weeks the trauma of the move will fade away. You have the motivation and trauma still fresh in your brain now, so go burn everything now before it is too late!
